Christmas Isn’t Always Merry…

Date: December 23, 2018 Author: Angela Nettuno Categories: Reflection 0

Since Christmas is sometimes difficult as some are dealing with loss, divorce, illness, or isolation…  this one’s for all of you…

I was feeling blue this morning thinking of my Mother In Law in the final stages of Dementia and this just poured out of me…

I hope anyone who is having a difficult time this holiday season can find some peace…

This one goes out to my precious Mother In Law…

As we pull out your precious recipes, we think of you…

As we bake them with the love you would have shared, we think of you…

As we decorate the house with your homemade decorations, we think of you…

As we hang the volkswagen bug ornament on the tree and read your personal note on its underside, we think of you…

As we remember Christmas morning at our home with you on the couch in between our babies, we think of you…

As we remember all the times you had your special talks with our son in the wee hours before the rest of us awakened, we think of you…

As we remember the special bond you had with our daughter who is basically your carbon copy in every way, we think of you…

As we pass a flower and remember how much joy your garden brought you, we think of you…

As we watch our daughter paint using the talent passed down from you, we think of you…

As we read your precious poetry and handwritten notes you left behind, we think of you…

As we gather with family and can’t shake the empty feeling that you would have filled, we think of you…

As we look around the room and feel the love of this family, we think of you…

As I see my precious husband with his brothers and all of our kids laughing together, we think of you…

As I remember how you told me I was the daughter you never had and how much you loved me, I think of you…

As I remember how you always told us you could feel the love in our home and how proud you were of us and our marriage, I think of you…

As I think that none of it would have been possible without you, I think of you…

As I realize that you won’t be here to see our daughter marry her love, I cry for you and for her…

As I realize that this may be your last Christmas with us even though “The Thief” has already taken you from us long ago, I cry for you…

Merry Christmas my precious Mother In Law.  I will always love you and keep your memories in my heart…
